Yes. Mattresses and box springs go in the dumpster, and with J's there's no per-mattress fee on top of your rental. That surprises people, because plenty of companies charge a few bucks apiece for them, and some towns' curbside pickup won't take them at all. Around Richmond, they ride in a normal load like anything else.
That makes a bedroom or full-house cleanout simpler than most people expect. Mattresses, frames, dressers, clothes, boxes of whatever the closet was hiding, all of it is ordinary flat-rate debris. The 16-yard is the usual pick for clearing rooms, since bedroom furniture is bulky rather than heavy and the taller walls swallow it.
The list of what can't go in is short, and it's worth knowing because it's the only list there is: appliances with freon in them (fridges, freezers, AC units), TVs, propane tanks, tires, and large pails of paint or any other liquid. Five things. Pretty much everything else in a house is fair game, including electronics that aren't TVs and appliances that don't have freon, your washer, dryer, stove, water heater.
Why those five? The landfill routes them separately. Freon has to be recovered by law before an appliance is scrapped, TVs and tires have their own recycling streams, and liquids can't go into a mixed load at all. Those rules come from the scale house, and every hauler in the county lives with them.
If you're staring at a garage with a couple of old mattresses, a broken recliner and twenty years of stuff, that's about as normal as a job gets around here.
