Ordinary remodel debris is flat rate. Plaster and lath is heavy material and goes in the 12-yard.

Remodel Debris in an Old Housing Stock

A lot of houses around Richmond were built long before drywall. Cabinets, flooring, trim and drywall are bulky and light. Plaster and lath weighs like concrete, and it's the most common reason a remodel quote turns out wrong.

Dumpster Sizes for Remodel Jobs

Ordinary remodel debris goes in the 16-yard. The moment plaster, lath, tile beds or concrete are involved, it's the 12-yard at the heavy material rate.

Renovation Dumpster Cost

$325 to $425 on the 16-yard depending on how long you keep it, $295 to $375 on the 12. All-in, no sales tax. Plaster, lath and concrete carry 1,000 lbs then $50 a ton.

For a renovation job, the 12-yard starts at $295 and the 16-yard at $325, all-in with no sales tax. Heavy material (concrete, dirt, shingles, plaster and lath) goes in the 12-yard with 1,000 lbs included, then $50 a ton. Jeff confirms the size and the total on the call.

What a Remodel Load Actually Weighs

FLAT RATE

The 16-yard takes the ordinary debris

  • Lumber
  • Drywall
  • Cabinets
  • Carpet
  • Furniture

One published price. No weight math.

WEIGHED

The 12-yard takes the heavy material

12-yard dumpster, 43-inch walls, for heavy material
  • Concrete
  • Dirt
  • Shingles
  • Plaster & lath

1,000 lbs included · $50/ton after, off the scale ticket.

Most remodel debris is lighter than it looks. Cabinets, trim, doors and carpet are bulky, which is a volume problem the 16-yard solves, not a weight problem. Drywall is the heaviest ordinary material at about 50 lbs a sheet, and even a full kitchen's worth stays comfortably inside flat-rate territory.

The exceptions are the old-house materials: plaster and lath, tile mortar beds, and any concrete the project uncovers. Those bill by the scale ticket in the 12-yard, and knowing which side of that line your tear-out sits on is the reason Jeff asks what the project is.

Say What Is Behind the Drywall

It's worth a sentence on the phone. If the house is pre-war and the walls are coming back to the studs, Jeff will send the 12-yard and quote the heavy rate, and the invoice will match the quote.

If the job spreads, which it usually does, call before the rental days run out rather than after. Extensions are sorted on the phone.

Renovation Dumpster Questions

What size for a kitchen remodel?

The 16-yard for the cabinets, counters, flooring and drywall. If the walls coming out are plaster and lath, that part belongs in the 12-yard on the heavy rate, and it's worth planning the two loads rather than mixing them.

What if the job runs longer than the rental?

Call before the days run out and Jeff will work out the extension. Remodels run long, he knows that, and the phone call is all it takes.

Where do you deliver renovation dumpster rentals?

Five counties across two states, from Richmond out through Winchester, Connersville, Liberty and into Eaton, Ohio. Renovation Dumpster Rentals run off the same Richmond yard as everything else, so being at the edge of the map changes the drive, not the quote. See the full service area.

What does renovation dumpster rentals cost?

The same published rates as every job: $295 to $375 on the 12-yard and $325 to $425 on the 16, delivery, pickup and dump fee included. Heavy loads carry the 1,000 lb / $50 a ton rule, stated up front. The pricing page has the detail.

Do you do junk removal, or just dumpsters?

Dumpsters only. Jeff brings the dumpster, you load it at your own pace, he hauls it. There's no loading crew, and the price reflects that: you're paying for the container and the disposal, not labor. For most renovation dumpster rentals that's also the cheaper way to do it.
